What's New With Conjunto 23
Original Conjunto Returns to Philly February 25th!
Yes, you heard right: original bandmembers Robin Moore (vocals, percussion, and the occasional trumpet) and David Garlitz (vocals, tres) return to Philadelphia for a special show at the R.U.B.A. club in Northern Liberties.
The show is scheduled for the evening of Sunday, February 25th, from 6 to 10pm. As usual, the event includes a free salsa and Cuban rueda dance lesson. Price of admission is $10, or $7 with a student ID.
The R.U.B.A. club has hosted Conjunto 23 on several occasions dating back to 2002, but this will be the band's first appearance there in at least 2 years. The club is located at 414 Green Street in Philadelphia (behind the old Silk City Diner). For more information about the event, contact the group by email or call (215) 413-3835. Contact the R.U.B.A. Club at (215) 627-9831.
Conjunto 23 Website Re-vamped
As some of you may have noticed, the Conjunto 23 website has been in a state of gradual evolution for the past year. Finally, designer and bandleader David Garlitz has given the seal of approval to the current site, dubbed "Conjunto23.com Version 2.0."
Some of the improvements over the old site include an expanded music page including lyrics and "in browser playback," better accessibility for vision-impaired users, greater compatibility across platforms, and faster page loading time.
Although most of the major bugs have been worked out, de-bugging a website is not an easy process, so we would appreciate any feedback that you might have. If you have any problems accessing information on the site, please contact the designer by email.
Conjunto 23 to Play Franklin Marshall College
Conjunto 23 will play a much-anticipated concert/lecture event at Franklin & Marshall College on Saturday, February 24th. The show will take place at the John Joseph International Center at 7:30pm, and is free to the public.
Although the event will include some short lecture segments, outlining the history of Cuban son, and demonstrations of primary instruments, the band intends to play a solid set or more of dance music - audience members should come ready to dance!
Special thanks for the organization and funding of this event go to F&M faculty member Eric Zolov, without whose support this event would not be possible.
